Not Looking Good For The Redskins

The NFL Free Agency started on Mar. 7, where teams can talk to free agents about joining their teams. While Mar. 9 is when the contracts are to be released when the player joins the team. As the offseason goes on and about for NFL teams, the Washington Redskins don’t seem to have things going to plan. They’re losing players and hearing things that they don’t want to hear coming into this offseason.

Redskins fired general manager Scot McCloughan on Mar. 9, who had spent two seasons with the them. The reasons the Redskins decided to fire him was that he had alcohol problems. This reason also led to him getting fired from the 49ers in 2010 and the Seahawks in 2014 from being in the front office. It has been told that the Redskins are mostly likely do not have to pay the rest of Scot contract that he had with Redskins, because of it being a cause instead of it being philosophical problems or power struggle in managing the team.

Kirk Cousins did sign the franchise tag with the Redskins although he did to go to Redskins owner Dan Snyder that he wants to be traded. Krik did come off a good season last year with the Redskins, having a career best of 4,917 yards, 25 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.  The Redskins did fail to make the playoff last season. The Redskins have until July 15 to discuss on long-term deal with Cousins. If they don’t come to an agreement, there is a chance of losing him.

Wide receiver DeSean Jackson who has been with the Redskins for three seasons, playing 40 games, 142 receptions for 2,702 receiving yards and just 14 touchdowns. He going to the  Buccaneers this upcoming season. Also wide receiver Pierre Garcon who has been with the Redskins for five seasons, having 376 receptions for 4,549 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns. He is going going to sign with the 49ers. The Redskins also lose defensive end Chris Baker that played with the Redskins for six years, who signed with the Buccaneers. The Redskins lose Kory Lichtensteiger after he announced his retirement. The Redskins have a ton of spots to replace key players that have helped them throughout the years to push for the playoff.

In other news, the Redskins signed defensive linebacker Terrell McClain, defense Line Stacy McGee, safety D.J. Swearinger and wide receiver Terrelle Pryor, linebacker Chris Carter, and re-signed tight end Vernon Davis, defense line Ziggy Hood, offensive tackle Vinston Painter, and offensive line Ty Nsekhe. Coach Gruden also extends his contract with the Redskins.
